Here are the top five:
- 1. Climate Change Act
The UK became the first country in the world to introduce a legally binding framework to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Its target of reducing emissions by 80% on 1990 levels by 2050 will be met through carbon budgets, the first of which will be set out in June 2009.

Working together, the two bills will make it easier for industry to invest in new energy infrastructure projects.
