“The Institute will aim to accelerate carbon projects through facilitating demonstration projects and supporting necessary research – including research into regulatory settings and regulatory frameworks,” the Australian government said in a statement.

The Australian government is making available up to €50m ($65m) per year for the Institute’s work.

Rudd said that all states, companies and institutions interested in CCS technology will be able to participate in the Institute’s work and benefit from the results of its research.
