In its new Strategic Directions report, government-backed ACRE says that by sweeping up previously unallocated cash the programme could extend the funding opportunity for emerging renewables to more than A$100m.
At least A$40m would be available for developing technologies such as ocean and geothermal. The new programme is separate to the previously-announced A$100m Renewable Energy Venture Capital fund.
ACRE was created in 2010 by Resources and Energy Minister Martin Ferguson to administer funds for emerging renewable technologies including geothermal, solar, ocean energy, storage and hybrids, and to advise on how the sectors can be better supported.
