The €50m, 16MW plant at Miajadas in the Extremadura region will use 110,000 metric tons of agricultural waste products, of which 70% will be herbaceous material, mainly corn straw, and 30% ligneous material, mainly wood chips from oak, olive and fruit trees. Acciona says that the plant has been started up with corn straw, while the ligneous material will be incorporated in spring 2011.
