The project, which utilises 41 1.5MW Acciona turbines, was registered under the United Nations’ clean development mechanism (CDM) in February this year.
The registration is for a period of 10 years, during which time the facility will avoid the emission of 1.11 million metric tonnes of CO2 (112,812 tonnes a year). Acciona will obtain emission reduction certificates from the project which it can then sell on the emission trading market.
