McGinn, a retired vice admiral and outgoing head of theAmerican Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), will direct the service’s effortsto meet its 2020 goal for procuring and producing 1GW of renewable energy at itspermanent installations (and/or on military land opened up for development).
The Navy also has aggressive goals to increase utilizationof biofuels in its aircraft and non-nuclear surface vessels.
