BP is heading development of the wind farm, while Westar owns half of the site’s energy generation capacity. Westar says it will purchase, under a purchase power agreement, the rest of the energy generated at the wind farm.
Flat Ridge utilizes 40 Clipper 2.5 MW C-96 wind turbine generators, the largest wind turbines built by a US manufacturer.
Westar, which is investing in two other wind farms in the state, is seeking proposals for an additional 500 MW of renewable resources.
