The project, which will be the UK’s first floating wind farm, will comprise five 6MW floating turbines operating in waterdepths exceeding 100 metres.
Buchan Deep will build on the success of the first phase ofStatoil’s Hywind demonstration project, the world’s first full-scale floatingturbine, in operation since 2009 off the coast of Norway.
The Crown Estate and Statoil have been working closely overthe past two years to progress the project, whichwill further enhance the UK's position as a global leader in offshore wind.Statoil
