GIB will acquire the one-fifth stake from Scira, the project company owned by Norwegian partners Statoil and Stakraft, which developed Sheringham Shoal and brought it into service in 2012.
The UK body has previously bought stakes in the Westermost Rough, Gwynt y Mor and Rhyl Flats projects.
The GIB said it plans “in time” to transfer Sheringham Shoal to its planned Operating Offshore Wind Fund as a seed asset.
