The Wind Sentinel buoy is anchored in 65 feet (19.8 meters) of water within the Mid-Atlantic Wind Energy Area delineated by the US Interior Department (DOI) for eventual commercial wind energy development. Fishermen’s has a five-year lease with DOI to carry out the testing.
The Wind Sentinel is a suite of environmental monitoring sensors which are installed on a buoy platform called the NOMAD.
