The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) said it will add £95m ($153m) to the originally-envisaged pot of funding for large renewables projects in the first round of contracts-for-difference (CfD) support.

That means the final total will be £300m, compared to the £205m set out in draft plans in July.

Wind and marine renewables-focused industry body RenewableUK said the extra CfD budget – £80m of which will be allocated to support “less established” renewables, including offshore wind – may not be as positive as it first appears.
