Trials of the MTB – the first step in a strategy to create a real-time offshore ocean energy test facility and scientific observatory at SNMREC – was tow-tested offshore of Fort Pierce, where engineers worked with the crew of the M/V Thunderforce to verify the buoy’s performance.
“The test was a success because the predicted behavior of the buoy matched closely with the measured behavior during testing” says Bill Baxley, chief engineer at SNMREC.
