UK consent for 1.2GW Hornsea 1 offshore wind

The Round 3 project is a joint venture between the SmartWind consortium of Mainstream Renewable Power and Siemens Project Ventures, and Dong Energy.

Hornsea 1 will be made up of three wind farms, with Siemens in line to supply the turbines.

Hornsea 1 is the first development carved out of the UK’s 4GW Hornsea offshore zone.

Located 64 miles off the coast of Yorkshire, it was one of eight renewable energy projects awarded an early contract for difference (CfD) in April 2014.
