A joint venture between developer Perpetuus Energy Ltd and the Isle of Wight Council was cleared by the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) to build the grid-connected scheme, where a range of up to 60 different turbine technologies will enter commercial operation.
"The Perpeptuus Tidal Energy Centre (PTEC) is of strategic importance to the UK’s tidal industry as it delivers a fully consented site for a range of turbine technologies, deployed in large commercial arrays," states project director Mark Francis
