Lillgrund, commissioned in 2007 using 2.3MW Siemens turbines, is currently being investigated to discover the cause of the cabling fault.
Vattenfall believes the project could be left stranded for several weeks.
Installation of the high-voltage ABB export cable at Lillgrund is known to have faced difficulties, with Vattenfall blaming the installation vessel – the Nautilus Maxi, owned by Norway’s Seloy Undervannsservice, which performed the installation work.
