The Americas set a record 21.7GW of wind power capacity turning in 2020 despite Covid-spurred financial and supply chain impacts, driven by a booming US market and strong growth in Argentina and Chile, according to latest data from Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC),

Installations in the region surged ahead 62% from a year earlier with more than 75% coming from the US where developers accelerated completion of projects to take advantage of federal production tax credits.
