US renewables giant Invenergy has increased capacity of its proposed Grain Belt Express merchant power trunkline from Kansas to Indiana by 25% to 5GW in response to strong regional demand for clean energy supply.
The Chicago-based company’s transmission subsidiary, which is developing the $7bn high voltage direct current (HVDC) project, also announced a five-fold increase in the line’s mid-point delivery capacity.
