Australia’s fledgling offshore wind industry got a huge boost as the state of Victoria set the nation’s first targets for the sector and said it expects to be taking its first power from wind at sea as soon as 2028.

Victoria’s government in a new policy paper said it wants the state to be taking power from at least 2GW of offshore wind by 2032, with goals of 4GW by 2035 and 9GW by 2040 following on.
