'Now no time to lose on ports': industry experts weigh challenges after ScotWind joy
While delighted by the ambition of the 25GW leasing round and its backing for floating, leading offshore wind analysts warn there is plenty to be done to match it
Industry experts stressed the huge opportunities – and equally big challenges – ahead for Scottish offshore wind as the sector mapped a way forward from the nation’s bigger-than-expected 25GW ScotWind leasing round.
While – with the possible exception of unsuccessful bidders – the sector was delighted with the ambition revealed by ScotWind and its unprecedented opportunity for floating wind development, there were warnings of the work that lies ahead, not least in key areas such as ports and grid infrastructure.
