The UK and Norway said they are poised to seal a “historic” treaty over electricity trading and infrastructure, including combining cross-border transmission with North Sea offshore wind.

Energy ministers from Britain and Norway, Kwasi Kwarteng and Tina Bru, made the announcement as they met to mark completion of the 1.4GW North Sea Link interconnector between the two nations.

The UK and Norway are “embarking on a fresh, exciting chapter, establishing a new phase of cross-border energy cooperation,” said a joint statement from their energy ministries.
