The chief executives of global energy giants Orsted and Equinor said increased leasing of new offshore wind acreage is urgently needed if governments around the world are to hit stretching targets they have set for the sector.

Mads Nipper and Anders Opedal – both of whose companies have in recent weeks unveiled new renewable growth ambitions focused around offshore wind – named availability of new seabed as a top priority and a potential drag on progress if nations do not move faster.
