When operational in the spring of 2016, the solar and battery plant will be fully integrated with an existing 19MW diesel power plant at Sandfire Resources' DeGrussa copper mine that currently powers mining activities.
Juwi claims the project will make DeGrussa the world's largest solar-powered mine.
The PV plant with storage in Western Australia will reduce diesel consumption by more than 20% and shave off 12,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions from the mine each year.
