Fast-forward a few action-packed years later, and his company has become a rising star in the ascendant renewables industry. The man himself has made a pot of money, atoned for his past environmental sins and become something of a media darling.
The man — as many in the European energy business will know — is Eddie O’Connor, who founded Ireland’s Airtricity in 1997 and sold it for a bundle to Scottish and Southern Energy last year.
