Stressing the importance China gives to the build-up of offshore wind, an umbrella agreement for the JV was signed today in the presence of Chinese premier Li Kequiang and Belgian prime minister Charles Michel.

The Chinese government wants to boost the country’s installed offshore wind capacity by 2020 and beyond. But the build-up so far had been slower than planned, in part due to a reluctance to import equipment and knowledge from Europe, and restrictions on foreign ownership in the sector.
