The 30MW Buchan Deep development will deploy five 6MW Siemens turbines atop Statoil’s Hywind floating system.
The project already has clearance from Marine Scotland, and Statoil took a final investment decision to proceed with it in November 2015 at an expected cost of NKr2bn ($244m).
Preliminary onshore and near-shore works will commence later this year and deployment of the turbines is due to begin in 2017, with first power expected towards the end of that year.
