The Social Democrats (SPD) approved the proposal at a party congress in Augsburg, southern Germany, on Sunday. It will now form part of the platform on which it will fight September's national election.
The party reproaches the government of Chancellor Angela Merkel for endangering energy investments, and for creating planning insecurity and rising electricity prices through its “striking incompetence” in policy co-ordination.
