Arizona-based First Solar, which developed and built Sarnia using 1.3 million of its thin-film modules, will operate and maintain it for Enbridge under a long-term contract. The plant is expected to turn out 120GWh a year, to be sold to the Ontario Power Authority through a 20-year power-purchase agreement. Enbridge's contract falls under the province's Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program.
