The Dominican Republic's efforts in the past few years to create feed-in tariffs (FITs) for renewables are unique in the Caribbean, a region that tends to favour tenders or free-market systems. The nation also has a goal of getting 20% of its energy from renewables by 2025. As a result, three wind farms are scheduled to come on line this year.
