North America's tallest building, Chicago's Willis Tower - formally the Sears Tower - is set to become a massive solar plant through a revamp of its glass facade. Windows on the south side of the 56th floor will be replaced by a new form of PV glass developed by Pythagoras Solar, which is said to produce the same energy as a conventional solar panel while still letting daylight in, preserving views and reducing heat gain.
