The problems faced by Fluor as engineering procurement and construction manager of the Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm have been major - but could pale into insignificance if sufficient cabling capacity is not developed quickly. Estimates that the UK's Round 3 projects could use up the world's supplies of cables are worrying, as they account for only half the offshore wind capacity lined up for construction in Europe by 2020.
