Van Oord seals offshore role after ordering jack-up vessel
Dutch marine contractor Van Oord has ordered an offshore wind jack-up vessel, underscoring its ambitions to become a major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the sector. Hamburg-based shipyard JJ Sietas will build the "innovative" vessel, which will be 139 metres long and fitted with a crane capable of hoisting 900 tonnes. It will be delivered to Van Oord by September 2012.
