Vestas won the largest contract, for its turbines, while Dutch companies Sif Group and Smulders supplied the monopile foundations, which were installed using Danish firm A2SEA's Sea Jack vessel. Aberdeen-based Subocean won a £30m export-cables contract, while Noble Denton provided project-management services.
V attenfall opens Thanet and vows to stay in UK
By formally cutting the ribbon at its 300MW Thanet project off the southeast coast of England, Vattenfall pushed the UK past the 5GW milestone for total installed wind capacity. Thanet, which uses 100 Vestas V90 turbines, will remain the world's largest offshore wind farm until London Array is finished in 2013.
