MIYAZAKI: Japan's Solar Frontier admits it faces tough market conditions as it cut the ribbon on its ´ 100bn ($1.2bn) gigawatt-scale Kunitomi factory. The yen's rapid appreciation and stiffer competition have created a new dynamic since plans were laid in 2009 for the world's biggest CIS (copper indium selenide) thin-film PV plant in Miyazaki prefecture on Kyushu, Japan's third-largest island.
