Álvarez, a former subsecretary in the Ministry of Finance, took over the job on 22 July.
The ministry's revolving door
Chile has six wind farms totalling 167.6MW in operation, four of which came on line in 2009. But no new wind farm has been inaugurated since former President Michelle Bachelet left office in early 2010, and the bulk of the current capacitywas developed on energy minister Marcelo Tokman's watch.
