Two concentrating PV (CPV) projects have come on line in the US Southwest.. Tucson Electric Power is buying the output of a 2MW Amonix installation in Tucson, Arizona, under a 20-year power-purchase agreement (PPA). It comprises 36 CPV systems covering five hectares at the "solar zone" of the University of Arizona's Science and Technology Park.
A 1MW demonstration project has been switched on by Chevron's mining and solar arms at a molybdenum mine that the oil major owns in Questa, New Mexico.
