The Marathon project's main obstacle is feedstock, which at first glance appears curious given that Ontario has 2% of the world's wood supply.. But only 12% of that vast resource is in private hands, with the rest state-owned. The private sector does lease some forestland, but mainly for traditional pulp and paper operations, which are operating at roughly 60% capacity..
