Spain will propose an annual quota of about 1.4GW for new wind farms in the period leading up to 2020, according to Antonio Hernández, director-general of energy policy and mines at the Industry and Trade Ministry.
The plan, which has yet to be finalised, has annoyed representatives of Spain's wind industry meeting in Madrid, although government officials point out that it merely formalises the installations needed annually to meet Spain's 2020 wind-power target of 35GW onshore and 750MW offshore.
