London: Investors continue splashing out money on solar start-ups, with the sector topping the charts for clean-tech venture-capital investments in the first quarter of the year. Of the $2.57bn that venture capitalists poured into clean-tech companies in the first three months, $641m went to solar companies, with transportin second place, according to market researcher Cleantech Group.
The solar sector was led by a $201m funding round for BrightSource Energy, lifting to $530m the amount of equity the California solar-thermal developer has attracted in the past few years.
