The 44-year-old, who took the helm of Semikron Brazil in March, speaks German, English and Portuguese, and is learning Hungarian and Mandarin.

Her background is not scientific; she comes from a family of lawyers. But she discovered early on that she loved hardware. Among her first experiences in this direction was learning how circuits work in a digital clock.

Ritt lived for 11 years in Germany, where she earned a PhD for her work with silicon semiconductors and chips from the University of Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg — and met her future husband.
