Researchers have found that pollen counts, including those of several that cause allergies such as hay fever, have risen in European cities in correlation with rising CO 2 levels. Higher temperatures, which might have been expected to increase pollen production, have been discounted, as more of the sneezing powder appears to have been present in the atmosphere even in cooler years.
