BRUSSELS: Environmental group Greenpeace has urged Poland's liberal government to create a renewables department to undertake an ambitious switch from fossil fuels to green energy - creating 350,000 jobs by 2020. Poland, which depends on coal-fired plants for 94% of its power, has promised to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels as part of the EU's overall climate goals.
Greenpeace says measures outlined in its report, An Energy Revolution for Poland , would contribute to 350,000 new jobs - nearly twice the number employed in the country's coal industry.
