In September, Carnegie also inked a three-year collaboration deal with Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland's Ocean Energy Development Unit to jointly develop projects at locations off the coast of Spiddal and Belmullet, County Galway. In addition, Carnegie has an ongoing joint venture to explore the potential for a wave farm off the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, in collaboration with Canada's Pacific Coastal Wave Energy, Renewable Energy Holding (REH), EDF EN and Global Energy Horizons.
Plans to make waves in Eden and island idylls
Commercialisation of the Ceto concept should throw open the door to a range of Australian and international wave-power development prospects. This year, Carnegie added to its domestic project pipeline with the award of options to lease three potential wave-energy sites off the state of Victoria at Portland, Warrnambool and Phillip Island, along with a licence from the government of New South Wales for a project off the town of Eden.
