Spring is in full bloom in Washington DC, and with it comes the annual Rolling Thunder Memorial Day motorcycle parade organised by Vietnam War veterans.
This year's event was uncommonly controversial - and frankly, hilarious - thanks to the uninvited participation of failed vice-presidential candidate, abandoner of the Alaska governorship, Fox News darling and paragon of heartland values, Sarah Palin.
Palin - whose favoured energy policy was famously summed up by the slogan "Drill, baby, drill!" - chose Rolling Thunder as the first stop on her bizarre mystery bus tour across the eastern US, which some Palintologists see as evidence she intends to run for president in 2012.
