Aquamarine signed off on the manufacturing order for its Oyster 2 device a week after announcing £11m in fresh investment, including £8m from Swiss-Swedish engineering giant ABB and £3m from existing shareholders. It increases the amount of finance that the Edinburgh-based Aquamarine has raised this year to £18.5m, making it one of the great hopes for the UK marine renewables sector.
Oyster 2 provides BiFab with change of focus
Scotland's Burntisland Fabrications (BiFab) has secured a £4m ($6.2m) contract to build Aquamarine Power's second-generation wave-energy device, the Oyster 2.
