London: London has moved to position itself as a green financial capital of Europe with a £70m ($112m) fund to finance low-carbon waste and recycling projects. There are two schemes in the pipeline to generate energy from council food-waste collections through anaerobic digestion, and three for biomass gasification.. London Mayor Boris Johnson says the multi-million-pound fund is an "example of the type of innovative thinking that will stimulate low-carbon economic growth for the capital".
