REpower's latest technological launch is an ultra-tall 3.2MW turbine for onshore markets with a neck-craning 143-metre hub height. It uses a segmented steel and concrete tower to hold a 114-metre-diameter rotor.. Getting the long-bladed rotor into the "laminar flow" of higher altitudes will expose the turbine to stronger winds and improve its production rates.
This taller turbine also opens up acreage to wind development that was previously deemed insufficiently strong, including the forests of central and southern Germany.
