"Many Korean and other Asian companies are knocking on our door," he says. "We will be glad to receive them in a couple of months' time - when we have analysed results from the first production period." There is also a lot of interest from the US, but less from European companies, he says.
Hydra eyes Asian markets as Morild device draws attention
Hydra Tidal's 1.5MW Morild floating ocean-current device is delivering power to the grid, and the company's founder says a $0.12/kWh target is well within reach. The company's first full-scale wooden-bladed device began a two-year testing programme in the Gimsøystraumen channel, northern Norway, in November, and the next few months will provide founder Svein Henriksen and his colleagues at the Harstad-based firm with valuable information.
