While the move will be welcomed by the UK renewables industry, it will not resolve uncertainty within the government over whether to replace the RO scheme with a feed-in-tariff for large-scale projects.
Government to decide on subsidies a year early
UK Energy Minister Charles Hendry says the government will decide a year earlier than planned how much support it will give to large-scale renewables projects from April 2013. "Industry will now get an indication of the support they will receive for new large-scale projects that start generating renewable electricity from April 2013, as early as mid-July 2011," says the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
