“This will change the face of the entire Caribbean,” says Kerry McDonald, founder of West Indies Power, which starts to build its first geothermal plant on the island of Nevis in June.
The $45m plant might eventually be able to develop 400 megawatts (MW) of power.
McDonald says geothermal power can transform the region from being among the highest electricity price-payers to one of the lowest.
