Seattle&Bristol: GE's $3.2bn acquisition of French power electronics maker Converteam is targeted at bolstering its positions in direct-drive permanent-magnet generators (PMGs), offshore wind and inverters, as well as emerging renewable-energy markets.. The deal saw the US giant buy all but a 10% stake in Converteam from Barclays Private Equity and LBO France.
